Resveratrol’s Effect on Heart

Full of natural anti oxidants, Resveratrol is found abundantly in red wine. Some studies suggest that it slows down the hardening of heart tissues called fibrosis. Effects of fibrosis are greatly reduced if Resveratrol is taken regularly.

Resveratrol, though discovered more than half a century ago, became an ingredient of all the major health supplements very recently. Its weight loss, anti aging and anti heart diseases properties have made this product highly demanding. There is a whole section of health industry producing Resveratrol based supplements only. A major chuck of population in the US is fond of some kind of health supplement. Resveratrol is one of the best supplements for its overall effects.

Resveratrol effect on health is being studied. There are several reports of its effect on heart. One of the major effects of Resveratrol is that it helps in preventing blood clots and normalizing cholesterol level.

Apart from weight loss and anti aging qualities is has been proved to be highly beneficial for smooth functioning of heart and highly effective in hypertension. What actually happens during heart failure and hypertension attack is that angiotensin II is produced in huge quantities. It is a natural process to repair damage caused to the heart.

Presence of Resveratrol prevents the action of this hormone called angiotensin. This hormone produces excessive amount of Collagen which is a major component of bones, ligaments and other connective tissues. This sudden production of collagen results in stiffening of heart muscles, causing heart to beat faster. If there is ample Resveratrol present in the system this whole process of stiffening muscles is reduced to a great extent. This ensures that heart remains healthy and young for long.

Moreover the overall effect of Resveratrol on hearth and immune system in general is very positive. It can safely be said that if Resveratrol is consumed regularly in moderate quantities, a lot of diseases can be cured well before they show their first symptom.

Is colon cleansing safe?

As colon cleansing has widely been accepted as a method of shedding weight, a common question comes up “Is colon cleansing safe?” In order to answer this question we need to look deeper into what colon cleansing is all about and how it works.

What exactly is colon cleansing and how it works. Colon cleansing encompasses a number of alternative medical therapies that intend to remove fecal material and toxin waste out of our body i.e. colons. Apart from convention method of injecting water mixed with some medicines which cleans the bowel, there are several methods which do not require you take the help of someone for administering enema like treatment.

There are several other methods like taking laxatives work fine but are often known to have severe side effects. As these older methods are not reliable enough the most effective colon cleanser is in the form of pills. The pills method is 100% safe therefore once should not be apprehensive about taking it.

Made of natural ingredients these colons cleansers have been tried and tested by thousands of people with positive results. However care should be taken not to go for colon cleansing too frequently as it disturbs body’s natural ability throw toxin waste out of the system. Colon cleansing once or twice a year is more than sufficient. In some extreme cases going for colon cleansing every 3 months is also not harmful but should be avoided. Only when there is no other option left should we go for clinical colon cleansing.

Once the colon is cleansed our digestive system starts working the way it should therefore it takes some time before the system goes bad again. One should avoid taking colon cleanser too frequently as it may disturb colons natural functioning.

How to Recognize the Symptoms of Nicotine Addiction

Nicotine is a drug which is found in tobacco and its products like chewing tobacco and nicotine gums. It is highly addictive, in fact, it is considered as one of the most addictive substances out there today. It can change the brain, specifically the dopamine pathways, and influence it to crave for more and more of the substance even if the individual knows the dangers it can cause to the body.

The truth of the matter is, as one of the most addicting substances in the world, it is also one of the hardest to rid of. According to the American Heart Association, nicotine addiction is the leading cause of heart problems and deaths which are linked to smoking.

The characteristics of nicotine addiction are similar to those of being addicted to the more famous drugs like cocaine and meth. It is easy to spot or recognize the symptoms of nicotine addiction; however, those who are addicted may be the first to deny their addiction and may even deny that it can be the main cause of their health problems.

  • One of the most common and simplest nicotine addiction symptom to spot is the person finds it difficult to stop smoking; some cannot stop at all despite their recognition to the need to quit. The worst thing about this addiction is that even if the smoker is already experiencing health problems and may have had a heart attack, they will still continue to smoke and go against the advice of their cardiologists or internists. Some of the smokers may even go to the extent of giving up healthy activities which do not allow smoking.
  • Another symptom is seen in those who stop smoking. They display psychological symptoms of withdrawal which may or may not include mood swings, irritability, headaches, sleepiness, weight gain due to increased appetite and even tremors. These symptoms can be seen in people who can smoke a pack in one day.
  • Those who do succeed in quitting the habit can find themselves in an area and find that they are craving for a smoke. The places which the smokers associate most with smoking will trigger this psychical need even if they had not smoked for months or even years.

There are aids which can help the smoker control their smoking and eventually kick the habit. These medical aids are the nicotine gums, nicotine patches and nicotine therapies which are sold over the counter. There are also the electronic cigarettes which have nicotine cartridges sold in graduating amounts of nicotine. All of the therapies, treatments and tools are successful in helping the smoker kick the nicotine addiction. Unfortunately, the need to light that cigarette is fully burned into the very brain cells which trigger satisfaction, the dopamine pathways.

Kicking the habit may not be a fun thing to experience but the facts are there which show proof that nicotine addiction is one of the leading causes of heart attacks and other diseases linked to nicotine use.

High Yield Online Savings Accounts

When it comes to opening up a high yield online savings account, you have a lot of options at your disposal. A quick Google search will pull up hundreds of thousands of results, with a myriad of banks offering their services in holding your hard-earned cash. Let’s take a closer look at high yield online savings accounts and why they can be a more attractive option than a savings account at a brick and mortar bank.

As you can guess by the name, a high yield savings account offers a greater Annual Percentage Yield (APY) than a normal savings account. In order to qualify for this higher yield rate, there are a few criteria to meet. As indicated by banking.about.com, a few of these requirements may include:

· Make a sufficiently large initial deposit

· Keep a high balance over time

· Limit transactions in and out of the account

· Maintain other banking relationships

(source: http://banking.about.com/od/savings/a/highyieldsaving.htm)

Simply put, a bank is only willing to provide a higher APY account to established, higher valued customers. However, for online savings accounts, the requirements may be a bit more lenient, with many institutions offering these types of accounts with minimum deposits as low as one dollar.

One attractive feature about high yield online savings accounts is that you can receive a higher yield than you would at a regular brick and mortar bank. Currently, an online account can yield between 1.00-2.00% APY while most brick and mortar banks are offering in the area of 0.5% APY.

Since an online account is not tied to a brick and mortar bank branch, it requires a little more work to manage the funds in an online high yield savings account. Customers may tie their account to an existing external bank account to transfer funds in and out of the savings account. There are a few options to deposit or withdraw funds from the account. As described by Wikipedia, “a customer may deposit funds into their account by either ACH transfer, mailing in a cheque, or direct deposit. To withdraw money, customers can initiate an ACH transfer into another account or sometimes request a cheque from the bank in the desired amount.” (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_savings_account)

While high yield online savings accounts may take a bit more work to manage than a savings account at a physical bank branch, having to manage the funds, withdrawals and deposits on your own, the trade-off for this effort is a higher yield than you’d receive at a brick and mortar bank. If you are financially responsible and able to manage such an account on your own, it is to your advantage to utilize an online account and benefit from the higher APY.

Jobs I’ve Seen People Perform During Retirement

I’ve made many friends during my brief retirement.  It’s not always comfortable talking to people about money, especially after the latest economic collapse.  That collapse not only pushed the dreams of retirement back several years for folks who were looking to retire by now, or even earlier, but it also meant that many people who were invested in falling securities had to essentially find a new source of income to supplement that of any retirement plans or savings they had set aside.

That begs the question – what sort of supplemental income is possible during retirement?

There are several, and I’ve witnessed things that many people would not believe – but they serve the purpose of adding income to people’s banks.  Even if it’s $200, $500, or $1,000, it always helps defray costs that add up during retirement.

1.  Cosmetics distributor.  Many women have taken charge and started to distribute skin care products such as eye serums, anti aging creams, and other rejuvenation products.  It’s easy to find a company like Mary Kay and get on board with their distribution program.  It’s also very easy to bring this up in normal conversation. I’ve seen women service their neighborhood and make money in that fashion.

2.  Sell golf balls.  Sure, this may sound weird – but what happens each night when the golf course closes?  There are literally dozens, if not 100′s of balls that are left abandoned.  I know someone who walks down a certain hole surrounded by water each evening and looks in the SAME location each time.  Wouldn’t you know it?  There are fresh balls each night just waiting for someone to nab them.  Another very easy, very casual side job for people who live in golf course communities and know people who play golf.

3.  Internet copy.  Sure, there are many opportunities to work online.  There are affiliate programs where you can join up and promote other people’s products, as well as other jobs such as web design, graphics, and other detailed work. But, for the average person who does not have those skill sets, why not become a copywriter?  There are many people who can write, and write well.  Why not put that skill to use?  There are many forums online where people are hiring writers of all skill levels for copy that ranges from website copy to basic articles.

There are many, many more things one can do with their time to supplement any income lost during the recession.  It’s not uncommon to work in this “post recession” era – a few extra bucks never hurt regardless.

Happy investing!

Supplementing Your Retirement Income

Many people who retire just don’t have the desire to work.  Others, like myself, are always looking for ways to become more diversified and open up multiple streams of income.  This article will go into some different business ventures you can roll out to add $100 – $10,000 to your nest egg, with only minimal effort and not a ton of time consumed.

For starters, I’ve found that people who are in the age of retirement or live in retirement communities are very trusting of one another.  Once there are groups formed and relationships/bonds formed, it’s easy to introduce ideas, products, and business topics and get a good response.

Using and leveraging these relationships and neighborhood bonds can be very rewarding. I’m not one to go out and start hardcore sales tactics to people in my neighborhood, but what I can promise is that when done the right way, you can help people fill their needs and sell them products they already use.  You can do this through many methods, one would be by joining an MLM and starting to carry their products.  Doing this will provide you an alternative income stream.  It’s important to know that you need to choose your products wisely, and select products that are up to date, not oversold, and that are reputable.  I always think that  a health product is good to use if you can pitch it the right way.  For starters, a health product like an herbal diet supplement, daily multi vitamin, or even some sort of colon cleanse are all good starts.  I also urge you that before you embark on some sort of venture in health care/nutrition, you know what you are talking about and more importantly – that you are in good health.  I can’t stress this enough.  How often do you hear of someone fat offering health tips or telling you what to do in the gym?  It simply doesn’t have the same effect as when someone goes on to tell you this who has a physique like Arnold Schwartzenegger or a body like Jillian Micheaels.

One other product niche people should look into is anti aging skin care products.  Anti aging as a topic, and longevity, are among the most in-demand topics among people who are 40+.  While everyone out there is looking to get younger, nothing will work as well as an anti wrinkle cream on aging skin.  Anti wrinkle creams are about as popular as a daily moisturizer right now, and people who are in their Golden years are looking for bang for their buck.  You can do this in one or two ways.  One, you can buy in bulk from a manufacturer and hold “parties” at your house to show everyone just what you have.  Or, you can go around to places that cater to retired adults and sell in bulk.  Either way, there is something you should be interested in, as it’s something everyone in your community will be buying anyways – why don’t you capitalize on their spending?

Living Life to the Fullest: A Safer Way

Many people are finding the recent breakthroughs in longevity and aging programs found in wellness centers across the globe to be quite rewarding and highly innovative.  The things science brings to us these days is simply astonishing.  If you are looking to live long, there are many traits you need to change and many habits you need to break.  This post talks about many tips to living longer and enjoying your retirement the way you are supposed to.

How to live longer and get to your golden years with a full body of energy:

1.  For starters, you need to take a look at the things you put in your body.  There are many toxins and bad items that can be put into the human body that will do long term damage.

For starters, alcohol is not a good thing to put into your system with any frequency.  It destroys your liver and will leave you dehydrated.  If you must drink alcohol, drink wine.  Red wine is high in resveratrol, which has been named in many of the latest studies linked to aging, including a test with lab mice.  It’s one of those “it” ingredients that has been getting a lot of press lately.

Second, if you smoke, stop immediately.  There are many alternatives out there that are much more safe than real tobacco cigarettes.  In fact, electronic cigarettes are becoming a really big hit with smokers who don’t want to have the second hand smoke around them, yet want to mimic the action of smoking a traditional, tobacco, store bought cigarette.  There has been a lot of progress made in this industry, and people are really having a lot of good things to say about brands like Blu Cigs, Green Smoke, V2 Cigs, and Premium Electronic Cigarettes.  If you don’t know much about electric cigarettes, read this Premium E Cigarette Review.  You will learn a bit more about the product and it’s potential.

2.  It’s important not to put your body in the risk of harm or injury.  If you work out or do other strenous activity, make sure you have all the latest safety measures in place and ensure you are doing things that are within the realm of what you are able to do.  If you are unable to run a marathon or do power lifting, don’t do it!  Instead, take up less strenuous activities and exercises like swimming, water aerobics, walking, hiking, or tennis.  These are all less of a chance you get hurt types of activities, and they can be enjoyed in the company of others.

3.  Surround yourself with positive people.  This is something I like to stress enough.  Many people retire to places far away, like San Diego, Arizona, Costa Rica, and other exotic destinations.  When you do this, you risk losing lifelong friends and relationships – people who care for you are swapped out with people you barely know.  This can take a mental adjustment and really take a toll on the body.

These are all very basic, of course, but can be used to your benefit to live a longer, healthier life.

Will Living Longer Hurt Your Financial Well Being?

Aging.  It’s part of life.  As we get older, things become more difficult.  We ache, we suffer joint pain, we suffer all sorts of agonizing stresses throughout our bodies.  The worst part of aging is that it costs a lot of money to keep things running well and to ensure the body has what it needs to be healthy.  So it poses the following question:

Does living longer hurt people financially?

Sure, living a long time will eat up more savings.  Of course, things that are long-term are usually paid off, such as a house, a car, and anything else of value that was financed earlier in life.  But, things such as food, insurance, rent, (if applicable) and day – to – day activity expenses will never be entirely gone.

When thinking about retirement, it’s important to think of all the “what ifs” and really put things in perspective financially.  What would living until 85 mean?  What about 95?  Even greater?

The costs of living are most likely only going one way:  Up.

So what can you do to ensure you are living the right way, spending money in a manner that will ensure long term success?  Cut down on large expenses, as outlined below.

Here are a few of the expenses you can control that most people take for granted.

1.  Cosmetic Surgery and other “anti aging” surgeries.

*The costs of surgery are huge ,and it’s not something most people go through with, but there is still a good amount of women out there who invest $5,000 – $20,000 in such a surgery.  Instead, save your money and use anti wrinkle creams.  You will find these are rather inexpensive in the long run and can often do a great job of concealing fine lines, expression wrinkles, and other facial wrinkles and signs of aging.

If you don’t know where to start, there are plenty of wrinkle cream reviews websites that talk about all the latest and best wrinkle creams.  If you do a little soul searching, you’ll find something that should help you achieve all of your desired skin care goals.

2.  Vehicles.  Who are you trying to impress?

*Vehicles aren’t needed to impress these days.  When you are older, everyone knows you, and you don’t have to have a false sense of accomplishment and rent or buy something that is too much money than you can pay each month.  Be simple in your vehicle dealings these days.  You don’t need to drive that much anyways in most places.

3.  Drink Water.  Live longer.

*Water is the key to your body’s engine.  It’s good for healthy skin, nails, and body.  It also flushes out all of the toxins you consume and cleans out your immune system by flushing out waste and empty calories.  Drink plenty of water – there is no need to consume diet soda’s or sparkling water. They cost much more money and don’t do anything for you health-wise.

Lastly, live within  your means.  Don’t join the golf club if you can’t afford it, just to fit in with the Jones’.  Live within your budget now, and you won’t have to feel like you are penny pinching later.
